Hoop Dance Teacher - Jessie Favell
Jessie is a self taught hoop dancer who shares her passion for hula hooping with the local community. She has been hooping since 2010, after buying her first hula hoop off the internet. Since then, she has not been able to put it down. The fun and joy Jessie found in hooping and the challenge of learning new tricks, soon had her hooked and she felt the call to follow her passion and share the joy of hooping with others by starting Sunshine’s Hoop Love.
Jessie has taught and performed hoop dance at numerous Sunshine Coast events like; Caloundra Fringe Festival, Maleny Music Festival, Conscious Life, Eumundi All Well and Good Festival, Objectify and Mitchell Creek Rock and Blues Festival. She is often found in local parks and beaches jamming with her hoop.
Over the past eight years, Jessie has been a primary school teacher and has enjoyed sharing the experience of the hoop with her students. This led her to designing hula hoop dance and fitness programs for schools. Both programs link to the current ACARA curriculum for both HPE and Dance subjects. She is an accredited yoga instructor and teaches a gentle flow yoga at Bloomin’ Lotus in Currimundi .
Hoop dance is a form of self expression. It is a powerful, transformative, healing practice and a really fun way to exercise.
Jessie wants to share the joy, love, happiness, freedom and sense of wellbeing that she has found in the hoop, with other people. Her classes are a fun place to learn new skills, exercise, connect with community and lose yourself in movement.
